Why do you choose grass-fed beef tallow?

At Joyful Rose, we believe beautiful skincare begins with simple, nourishing ingredients. Grass-fed beef tallow has been used in skincare for generations because it is naturally rich in skin-compatible fatty acids that help nourish the skin and support its natural moisture barrier.

We choose high-quality, grass-fed tallow because we believe quality matters. It forms the foundation of many of our products, providing rich, lasting nourishment through simple, thoughtfully selected ingredients.
What makes Joyful Rose different?

Every Joyful Rose formula begins with a simple question:

"What does this skin need?"

Rather than creating one formula for everything, we thoughtfully craft each product with its own unique blend of botanical oils, CO₂ extracts, hydrosols, butters, and essential oils (when appropriate).

We don't believe in adding ingredients simply because they're popular. Every ingredient is chosen with intention and has earned its place in the formula. If it doesn't serve a purpose, we simply don't use it.

Our products are also deeply personal. Every balm, scrub, and treatment is named after someone who has shaped our family's story, reminding us that the best care is rooted in love, purpose, and connection.

Why is tallow so nourishing for skin?

Tallow is naturally rich in skin-compatible fatty acids that help replenish moisture and support a healthy skin barrier. Because it closely resembles many of the lipids found in our skin, it absorbs beautifully without feeling overly heavy when used in the right amount.

At Joyful Rose, we pair grass-fed tallow with complementary botanical oils and extracts to create balanced formulas designed for different skin types and skincare needs.
Why do some products contain essential oils while others don't?

Every formula is created with a specific purpose in mind.

Some products include carefully selected essential oils to complement the formula and create a beautiful botanical experience. Others are intentionally formulated without essential oils for babies, sensitive skin, or those who simply prefer a more minimalist approach.

Rather than following one philosophy for every product, we choose the ingredients that best support the purpose of each formula.
Where do you source your ingredients?

We thoughtfully source our ingredients from trusted suppliers who share our commitment to quality and transparency. Whenever possible, we choose ingredients that are sourced and produced in the United States, while recognizing that some botanicals are best grown in the regions where they naturally thrive.

Every ingredient is carefully evaluated for its quality, integrity, and purpose before becoming part of a Joyful Rose formula.

Using Your Products
How do I use a tallow balm?

A little truly goes a long way.

Apply a small amount to clean, slightly damp skin and gently massage until absorbed. Because our tallow balms are anhydrous, we recommend applying them to slightly damp skin after cleansing. This helps provide hydration while the balm helps seal it in, leaving your skin soft, nourished, and comfortable.
How should I store my products?

Store your products in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and excessive heat.

Because our products are made with natural ingredients, they naturally respond to changes in temperature. During warmer months, you may notice your balm becomes softer, while cooler temperatures will naturally make it firmer.
What should I expect during warm weather?

Because many of our products are made with natural ingredients and without synthetic stabilizers, they naturally respond to changes in temperature.

On warm days, your balm may become softer than usual, and during very hot weather or shipping, it may even melt completely. This is perfectly normal and does not affect the quality, safety, or performance of your product.

If your balm softens or melts, simply place it in a cool room or refrigerate until it firms again. While whipped balms may lose some of their airy texture after melting, they will remain just as nourishing and effective.

Why does my product look or feel different than my last one?

Every Joyful Rose product is handcrafted in small batches using thoughtfully selected natural ingredients. Because we don't use artificial colors, synthetic fragrances, or unnecessary fillers, slight variations in color, texture, and aroma are completely normal.

How do I choose the right product?

Everyone's skin is different, which is why we created each Joyful Rose formula with a specific purpose in mind.

  • Rose is our whipped facial balm for normal, dry, mature, and combination skin.
  • Joy is our everyday whipped balm for the face and body.
  • Bear is our rich restorative balm for very dry, hardworking skin.
  • Grace was created for delicate skin, making it a beautiful choice for babies, nursing mothers, and anyone with sensitive skin.
  • Rae is our gentle facial balm designed for growing skin, pregnancy, postpartum care, and stretch marks.

Are your products suitable for sensitive skin?

Many of our products are thoughtfully formulated with sensitive skin in mind.

Because every person's skin is unique, we always recommend performing a patch test before first use. If you have particularly sensitive skin or prefer products without essential oils, formulas like Grace, Rae and Andy are wonderful places to begin.

Working in small batches allows us to carefully prepare each formula, maintain consistency, and thoughtfully inspect every product before it reaches your home.

We believe skincare should be made with intention, not rushed through mass production.

Shipping, Returns & Orders
Where are your products made?

Every Joyful Rose product is handcrafted in small batches in Southern California with care, intention, and thoughtfully selected ingredients.

We believe slow, intentional craftsmanship allows us to maintain the quality and attention to detail that every jar deserves.
When will my order ship?

Every Joyful Rose product is handcrafted in small batches with care and intention. Most orders are processed within 2–5 business days before shipping.

To help protect your products from sitting in hot delivery trucks or warehouses over the weekend, we typically ship orders Monday through Wednesday. Orders placed later in the week may ship the following Monday.

Once your order has shipped, you'll receive a confirmation email with tracking information so you can follow your package every step of the way.
Do you accept returns or exchanges?

Because our products are handcrafted personal care items, we cannot accept returns or exchanges on opened or used products.

If your order arrives damaged, defective, or you receive the wrong item, please contact us within 7 days of delivery. We'll do everything we can to make it right.
My order arrived damaged. What should I do?

We're so sorry your order didn't arrive safely.

Please contact us within 7 days of delivery with your order number and photos of both the damaged item and its packaging. This allows us to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
Can I cancel or change my order?

If your order has not yet been packed or shipped, we'll gladly do our best to accommodate changes or cancellations.

Once an order has been fulfilled or shipped, we're unable to make changes.
Do you ship during hot weather?

Yes.

Because many of our products are made with natural ingredients, they may soften or melt during periods of extreme heat.

If your product arrives warm or softened, simply allow it to cool at room temperature or place it in the refrigerator until firm. This will not affect the quality or performance of your product, although whipped balms may lose some of their airy texture.
